Twitter, the social network I could not live without
Yesterday Twitter turned 5. Not the Twitter we know and have come to love, but the original Twitter (back then it was called Twttr). The 140 character message system which was built for the mobile world of SMS.
Since then, plenty has happened. Every major event has helped Twitter boom. In Greece it was the riots of December 6th 2008. Twitter proved that it was much faster than any other traditional news media, and much more reliable. Facts were being delivered from the scene, by people who had no political gains. It was all "real".
That same Twitter has helped deliver feelings, emotions, sentiments from all over the world. Either it was joy, sadness or just plain stupid incidents. The value is always the same.
Twitter has changed the way I use my mobile phone, as it's the first thing I look at when I wake up, and the last thing I read when going to bed. News, entertainment, keeping up with friends, celebrities and the like. It's enormous.
The information you can get from your timeline is invaluable. And that is why every other social network relies on Twitter to get it's word out.
That is why I love Twitter. Congrats to @Jack, @Ev & @Biz for building it. Thanks to the community for making it real.
